Membership Committee

The Membership committee is responsible for the recruitment, retention and engagement of AMA Minnesota members. The committee reaches out to current, potential and past members to engage, recruit and retain by identifying needs and interests of members and potential members. In addition, the committee plans member meet-up events throughout the year for new and existing members to highlight and educate the member benefits, allowing them to get the most out of their AMA membership. The committee also manages membership drives and renewal programs, and tracks our overall membership numbers.

Membership Committee Member

Are you a current member with a passion for AMA? Do you enjoy meeting new people and educating others? The Membership Committee is looking for volunteers interested in helping to recruit, retain and educate members.. 

In this role, you will:

  • Help to manage the chapter’s membership database and member communications.
  • Reach out to potential members and provide information about AMA and member benefits.
  • Reach out to members to answer questions, and drive renewals and retention.
  • Attend AMA events to meet and greet members, discuss membership with non-members, and share member benefits with both members and non-members.
  • Promote and execute membership drives.
  • Track membership numbers.

Desired skills:

  • AMA membership in good standing is a requirement for this role.
  • An interest in meeting and educating new members.
  • An interest in planning events and basic event planning experience.
  • Passion for and commitment to sharing the benefits of membership with the AMA Minnesota membership base.

Time commitment is between 2 to 6 hours of volunteer work a month, however this role will have quarterly spikes in work leading up to new member orientation events.

New Member Meet-up Coordinator

Are you a current member with a passion for AMA? Do you enjoy meeting new people and educating others? Do you enjoy developing and planning events? The Membership Committee is looking for a volunteer who is willing to take the concept of educating new members of benefits/providing an avenue to meet other new members, and giving new member orientation events new life.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan new member meet-up events to be held every two – three months.
  • Coordinate logistics for the event, including venue selection and coordination, basic AV, food and beverage, and member speaker confirmations.
  • Welcome and educate new members on AMA member benefits and how to get the most out of an AMA membership. 

Desired skills:

  • AMA membership in good standing is a requirement for this role.
  • An interest in meeting and educating new members.
  • An interest in planning events and basic event planning experience.
  • Passion for and commitment to sharing the benefits of membership with the AMA Minnesota membership base.

Marketing Communications Committee

The Marcom (marketing communications) committee oversees AMA Minnesota branding and the chapter website. The committee also deploys emails and manages social communications to promote the AMA Minnesota association events to members and non-members. Marketing communications works in tandem with the Programming, Membership, Sponsorship and Collegiate Relations committees to ensure all messages are clear, consistent, accurate, timely and connected.

Photographer

Using your own camera, favorite lens and photo editing skills to capture the moments of marketing professionals and event speakers.  These photographs will be used in various social media channels - such as Facebook, Twitter and the AMA MN website.

In this role, you will:

  • Attend AMA Minnesota events and take photographs which will be used in AMA MN marketing communications
  • Manage and upload photos to the AMA MN website

Desired Skills

  • Understand how photography tells a story
  • Background and experience with photography
  • Familiar with social media channels
  • Passion for and commitment to growing AMA MN membership base

Time commitment is 3 to 10 hours.

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee helps conceive and execute well-rounded programming and events that are relevant to our membership and the greater Twin Cities marketing community.  Our goal is to offer geographically and topically diverse events of varying length and depth (panels, workshops, roundtables etc.) that cover both educational themes and networking opportunities.  We do this through arranging all event logistics including deciding on topics/themes and arranging for speakers and host locations, and often rely on volunteers to offer meeting space and/or topic ideas. 

Event Manager

Do you enjoy logistics and planning events? AMA Minnesota is seeking experienced event planners to join our Programming Committee to plan our monthly events.

As an Event Manager, you will:

  • Identify low-cost or free venues
  • Collaborate and communicate with venue in advance of event
  • Work with MarCom team to promote events
  • Work with VP and AVP of Programming to stay within budget 
  • Coordinate logistics for specific events including working with host locations, communicating with presenters, and managing day-of event logistics
  • Join monthly conference calls to discuss potential topics, speakers and locations

Desired Skills:

  • Event management skills and experience planning events in the Twin Cities area.
  • Strength and understanding of event logistics and timelines.
  • Experience coordinating speakers, venues, food and beverage and AV.
  • Passion for and commitment to creating impactful AMA events.

This position requires 3 - 10 hours of volunteer work a month, with more work in advance of specific events.
